Centre for Consumer Science

The Centre for Consumer Science, CFK, was established in 2001 and is the biggest research centre in Sweden operating in the field of consumer research. The CFK is a meeting place for researchers from different disciplines. A deeper, more balanced understanding of consumption can be achieved by working together in interdisciplinary teams.

The purpose of the centre is to acquire new knowledge of consumption and consumption patterns of relevance to researchers, authorities, the industry, organisations and consumers. This research embraces a broad variety of topics; such as children and food, fashion, gender and design, interior decoration and sustainable consumption. These projects are often run in cooperation with researchers in the other Nordic countries.

To pass on knowledge of consumption research, the CFK implements a number of initiatives; it runs seminars, publishes its own reports which can be downloaded from the Internet and collates information on Nordic consumption research in the Conrid database. The CFK also maintains in-depth partnerships with a number of public institutions, such as the Swedish Consumer Agency and the Västra Götaland Region.
